Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett recently poked a little fun at pro-abortion protesters who have been picketing outside her home.

The moment took place as she spoke during a Federalist Society dinner in Washington, D.C. earlier this month.

Former President Donald Trump’s final nomination to the court was greeted by the group – which has no partisan affiliation but is closely aligned with Republican priorities – with a rousing ovation.

“Thank you, it’s really nice to have a lot of noise made that’s not by protesters outside my house,” she told the audience.

Her comment elicited laughter and applause.

The decision led to several Justices being subjected to online threats, including maps to their family homes, and culminating in an assassination attempt against Brett Kavanaugh.

Even prior to the actual ruling, when a leaked draft opinion indicated the court was leaning towards overturning the decision, a memo from the Department of Homeland Security showed the government was dealing with significant threats being made against the Supreme Court Justices.

“Law enforcement agencies are investigating social-media threats to burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their clerks, as well as attacks targeting places of worship and abortion clinics,” a report by Axios indicated at the time.

Some protesters were even offering cash rewards – which some would call a bounty – to employees of the service industry in Washington, D.C. to report sightings of conservative-leaning justices involved in the ruling.

She’s Dealt With Protesters Before

This isn’t the first time Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett has mocked protesters in a rather impressive manner.

A heckler interrupted Barrett at an event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library back in April and was immediately slapped down with the justice’s sharp wit.

The protester laughably referred to her as an “enslaver of women.”

To which Barrett replied, “Yes, fortunately, as a mother of seven, I am used to distractions. And sometimes even outbursts.”

Also appearing at the Federalist Society dinner earlier this month was Justice Samuel Alito, author of the majority opinion, who received his own standing ovation, as well as Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch who received hearty applause.
