Joy Behar’s alleged history of wearing what many have argued was blackface has just come back to haunt her once again, as Rep. Tim Scott (R-SC) is using it to call her out for refusing to “show up” to an interview that he did on her ABC talk show “The View.”

Scott Calls Out Behar
During an appearance in Atlanta on Friday, Scott was asked about an appearance that he made on “The View” back in June, according to Daily Mail. In his response, Scott made a point of referring to the radically liberal 80 year-old comedian as “Joy ‘Blackface’ Behar.”
“It was a fascinating experience for them, and it was an interesting experience for me,” Scott said. “People think because I’m optimistic and positive that maybe I’m just a nice guy and that’s all. The truth is that, when you say something that is disgusting, offensive and undeniably wrong, I’m the guy you don’t want to watch.”
“And going on The View to have a conversation about their comments and going toe-to-toe with Whoopi and the rest of the hosts – unfortunately, Joy ‘Blackface’ Behar did not decide to show up for the conversation she started,” he continued.

Scott Sounds Off
Scott, who is currently the only black Republican U.S. Senator, expressed his disappointment that Behar declined to show up for the interview.
“I look forward to that kind of conflict because I want to resolve the issue,” he said. “You don’t have to be an exception if you’re an African American to succeed in this world. All you have to do is go as high as your character and your grit and your hardwork will take you.”
Scott had decided to go on “The View” to respond after Behar outrageously claimed that he would not be a Republican if he actually understood racial issues in this country. Scott fired back by saying that he doesn’t believe that black people are at a disadvantage in the U.S., and he was determined to go on “The View” to explain to Behar why exactly he is a Republican.
Unfortunately, Behar was conveniently absent from the panel on the day Scott was booked on the show.

Behar’s Alleged ‘Blackface’ History
As for Behar’s new nickname, this was clearly a reference to her openly admitting to darkening her face with makeup so that she could dress up as a “beautiful African woman” as a Halloween costume back in the 1970s. Behar even had the nerve to openly brag about this costume as she showed off a photo of herself in it during a 2016 episode of “The View.”
“That is me. I was 29. It was a Halloween party, I went as a beautiful African woman. That’s my hair,” Behar said, according to The Wrap. “I had makeup that was a little bit darker than my skin, but that’s my actual hair, though.”
“You mean blackface,” her then-co-host Raven-Symoné replied, although she later said that she “loved” the costume.

The then-Republican congressional candidate Kim Klacik later called out Behar for wearing blackface while appearing on “The View” in 2020.
“Is this Joy speaking? The same Joy that paraded around in blackface not too long ago?” Klacik said when Behar tried to insert herself into the interiew. “Come on, Joy, I don’t think you should be asking questions.”
Let’s just say Behar didn’t take this very well.
“That’s not true,” Behar screamed, adding that the Black community “know[s] that that was not blackface,” but an “homage.”

If a conservative white woman openly bragged about darkening her skin with makeup so that she good dress up as an “African woman” for Halloween, her career in the media would be over immediately and she would be “cancelled” for good. Since Behar is a shameless liberal, however, she’s been given an effective free pass for her blackface scandal, and the media goes above and beyond to try to sweep it under the rug.
We applaud Scott for continuing to call out “Joy ‘Blackface’ Behar.” Here’s hoping that nickname catches on, because it’s perfect for her!
